The federal cabinet, on 9th August 2019, approved the appointment of financial sector professional Aamir Khan as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

The federal government has appointed Aamir Khan as chairman SECP for a period of three years with immediate effect.

The federal cabinet also approved the removal of the Chairman SECP Farrukh Sabazwari from his post.

Aamir Khan has 30 years of experience in banking, capital markets, structuring of financial solutions/products, leading national initiatives, business transformation, and regulatory reform. Since 2012, he has been serving as an executive director at the SECP.
