The starting page of a Website is called the Home page. It is also known as the index page, file name for the first page of the website is index.html or index.php. it is recognized as Home page.
First page of website technically termed as Index page(for server). but formally we can termed as Homepage and this page is sometimes called main page as well. Index.htm and default.asp are two of the most common but most web servers can be configured to show any page as the first page which is called Home page.
